National cash register models9/23/2023 ![]() If it's hard to make out, the label indicates it's a "second hand register" thus the S206082P serial number. I've added some additional photos of the register and it's beginnings. National was pretty good about that, then. ![]() I'd also be curious to see a pic of the underside of its cash drawer - there *should* be a large paper label affixed which would give exact details of the machine's exact age and original owner. I can answer at least one of those questions WS - the lock above the keys (which should take a flat, double-cut steel key) allows the curved brass 'lid' it is attached to to open and hinge upward, revealing various 'tally counters' and 'owner-type' things, which a simple store clerk (even then) wouldn't normally have access to. ![]() A beautiful old machine!
